Privacy
The short version: reading this site sends nothing about you to anyone but this site, and the only personal information we ever hold is what you choose to type into a form.
Reading the site
- No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising trackers, no cookies set by us.
- No third-party requests. Fonts, images and styles are all served from this site's own domain; opening a page here does not connect your browser to Google, Meta, a CDN or anyone else.
- Our hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare) processes requests to serve pages, as any host does; we do not use it to profile readers.
- Links to cited sources go to the regulators, registers and datasets we cite. Those sites have their own privacy practices once you are there.
- One count we do keep. A row per page view: the page, the country, phone or desktop, whether the request was a crawler, and the page of this site that linked you here if one did. No cookie, no IP address, no user-agent string, so it cannot identify you or tell a returning reader from a new one. Arrive from another site and we record that site's name alone, never the address or your search terms.
The tip, correction and advertising forms
- Name and email are optional on tips and corrections, by design: source protection matters more to us than knowing who you are. The advertising form asks for business contact details because it starts a business conversation.
- What you submit is stored securely and read by the small team that runs this masthead. It is used only to verify and act on what you sent. It is never sold, shared or used for marketing.
- Uploaded files are stored privately and deleted automatically after 30 days.
- If you left an email and want your submission deleted, reply through the same forms and we will delete it and confirm.
The promise in one line
We are a masthead that asks you to verify us against primary sources; the same posture applies here. If this page and the site's behaviour ever differ, that is a correction, and the correction form treats it as one.
